Brewery-fresh Pilsner Urquell from barrel

Pilsner UrquellBars and pubs are being offered the chance to serve unfiltered and unpasteurised Pilsner Urquell direct from the barrel only 24 hours after it has left the Czech brewery in Pilsen.

Miller Brands is working with selected outlets to provide the traditional hand-made 25-litre oak barrels as a way of showcasing the brand’s authenticity and unchanged brewing process.

The unfiltered and unpasteurised beer is made using the same traditional process and ingredients as standard Pilsner Urquell but it is slightly cloudy in appearance due to the remaining yeast. It also has a subtle difference in taste, making it sweeter and more full-bodied.

In outlets, the brewery-fresh beer will be served by brand ambassadors who will explain the history behind Pilsner Urquell’s legendary flavour and superior quality. The activity will be running until the end of the year.

Lucy Jordan, director of customer marketing at Miller Brands, said: “This exclusive activity will allow consumers to discover how the brand became the original Pilsner from Pilsen, while tasting unfiltered and unpasteurised Pilsner Urquell. Our unique 25-litre barrel will also help our brand ambassadors draw interest and engage with consumers on the night.

“Pilsner Urquell is an authentic Czech beer for beer lovers who appreciate quality, tradition and authenticity and should be stocked by outlets looking to profit from the trend towards world beer.”
