Monkey Shoulder reveals UK winner of Ultimate Bartender Championship

Monkey Shoulder Ultimate Bartender Championship Chelsie Bailey

Chelsie Bailey from Red Light in Bristol will be heading to Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans after being declared UK winner of Monkey Shoulder’s Ultimate Bartender Championship (UBC).

The competition put bartenders up and down the country to the test to prove they had “the skills that pay the bills”, with entrants quizzed on everything from pouring and nosing to stock take and tray service.

Chelsie (pictured) fought off tough competition from over 100 entrants who battled their way through heats in six cities. Despite the outstanding efforts of entrants from across the country over three months, Chelsie came top of the leaderboard.

The Ultimate Bartender Championship will now bring together winners from different national UBC competitions at this year’s Tales of the Cocktail festival in July.

Chelsie and the other national winners will enjoy an all-expenses-paid trip to New Orleans where they will have the opportunity to network with each other and leading figures in the bar and drinks industry.

Grant Neave, Monkey Shoulder’s “brand amBADASSador”, said: “There is no doubt that it was a hard-fought battle – but it is amazing to see Chelsie win for the UK and head off to Tales of the Cocktail this summer – it’s going to be epic!

“UBC is intended to challenge the best bartenders across the UK, and the stiff competition this year proves that it is doing just that.”
