Britvic Soft Drinks is to launch a new range of sparkling fruit drinks into the on-trade as an extension of its J2O brand.
J2O Spritz will come in 275ml bottles in three flavours, all made using natural fruit flavouring: Peach & Apricot; Pear & Raspberry; and Apple & Watermelon.
With light carbonation, they are being recommended for serving chilled in champagne flutes, without ice, and potentially with a piece of frozen fruit as a garnish.
More flavours, including limited editions, are likely to be introduced in the future. Flavours in the core J2O range include Apple & Mango, Apple & Raspberry and Orange & Passion Fruit.
Each bottle of J2O Spritz contains less than 55 calories and is being promoted for occasions including eating out. The new variant is being targeted mainly at men and women aged 25 to 35.
Nigel Paine, commercial director for out of home at Britvic Soft Drinks, said: “We are taking J2O a little bit further into the adult taste palate while continuing the heritage of putting two fruits together.”
The launch will be supported by free online training on the J2O website, www.J2Operfectserve.co.uk, which is run in partnership with Flow Hospitality Training.
Russell Kirkham, senior shopper marketing manager for out of home at Britvic Soft Drinks, added: “We won’t be talking about it for mixing but we accept that, in the on-trade, that is a regular occurrence. We want to hero the quality of the liquid. But we will be interested to see how it’s mixed in the marketplace.”
It is also being launched in the off-trade, where a 750ml bottle will also be available.
