Brockmans Gin is offering bartenders prizes of a trip to the Tales of the Cocktail festival in New Orleans in a competition to find the best cocktail for World Gin Day.

With entry opening on April 30, the international competition seeks a “Brocktail” with an original recipe using the premium gin. The closing date is 11.59pm on May 31.

The entries will be opened up to public voting from June 1 via social media and the brand’s website. The cocktail with the most votes at 5pm on World Gin Day on June 9 will be declared the winner.

People can vote once a day over the nine days, with the incentive of a prize draw to win a bottle of Brockmans Gin.

The creator of the winning cocktail and two other finalists will all win a trip, each with a guest, to Tales of the Cocktail in New Orleans, which runs over the week of July 17 to 22. The prizes will include flights, three nights’ accommodation, two days at Tales of the Cocktail and a dinner with the Brockmans team.

There is also a prize draw for entries to win Brockmans bar wraps. When bartenders enter, they are being urged to nominate another bartender to enter by offering the incentive of an extra entry to win the bar wrap.

Bob Fowkes, co-founder and marketing director of Brockmans Gin, said: “We are excited to see what the world’s best bartenders will concoct in 2018. Our views don’t count: the winning entries will be selected entirely by members of the public.

“This is a gin like no other and our brand’s distinctive flavour profile results from a combination of blueberries, blackberries, bitter-sweet orange peel and a host of other botanicals which has inspired mixologists the world over to create some distinctive and delicious cocktails.”

Last year’s winner was Ginto the Wild, created by Sebastian Stanczyk of The Spiritualist in Glasgow.

Entrants, who must work in the on-trade, are invited to submit their original cocktail recipe with an image, the name of their “Brocktail” and their contact details via a form that will go live at on April 30. More details on terms and conditions will be available at
