Brothers Cider is marking 20 years in business with a festival-inspired new look to its bottles plus two unique new flavours.
It has added new flavour Coconut & Lime – the first cider with coconut in the market – in response to the growing consumer trend for coconut water. Using real coconut water and lime juice, it has a light, clean, refreshing and natural taste in time for the summer.
Coconut water is now a £100million market in the UK, according to Data Monitor, and this is expected to grow to £193million by 2019.
Brothers Cider has also given a twist to its popular strawberry flavour with a limited edition, Strawberry & Kiwi, with the kiwi providing a drier note to balance the sweet taste of the strawberry juice.
The brand has seen great success with its flavours, including Toffee Apple which is now its biggest-selling product having seeing growth of 200% in the UK on-trade in the past year.
The company dates back to 1995 when four brothers, Francis, Jonathan, Matthew and Daniel Showering, made a small batch of cider and sold it from a bar at the Glastonbury music festival. Their business references these roots in new-look packaging being introduced for the range.
Managing director Matthew Showering said: “As an independent, family-run business we are under constant pressure from bigger multi-national competitors so we are always looking for ways to innovate within the market.
“We have seen great success with our unique Toffee Apple cider and feel it’s important to offer customers something different to the many red berry liquids now available.
“We want our 20th anniversary to be memorable for our customers. Brothers is a fun, independent, festival brand with a great story. We feel it’s important to stay true to these values that our customers love so much. With so much choice in the market we know how discerning customers are so it’s important we listen to what they want.
“The new-look packaging and the launch of a new Coconut & Lime cider have been created following extensive research which has shaped our strategy, allowing us to deliver what our customers really want.
“All our ciders are gluten free and vegan-friendly, and we pride ourselves on offering unique, delicious and refreshing ciders that offer customers something different.”
