Brothers extends range with tequila-flavoured cider

Perro LocoBrothers Drinks, best known for its range of ciders, has launched a new cider flavoured with tequila, lemon and agave nectar.

Perro Loco – Spanish for “mad dog” – comes in a 330ml bottle, with an ABV of 5.5%, recommended for serving with a slice of lime in the neck.

It follows the growth of spirit-flavoured beers, such as the tequila-flavoured Desperados and Amigos, and contains agave nectar – the syrup made from the same agave plants as tequila.

Perro Loco is being supported with digital marketing, social media and an extensive range of point-of-sale materials to create “fun and theatre” in outlets.

Brothers Drinks consumer marketing manager Cheryl Sheppard said: “Innovation has been the driving force behind the success of cider.

“Increasingly consumers are bored with lager, RTDs and even just plain old apple and pear cider. They are also demanding more than just another fruit-flavoured cider.

“Perro Loco is developed with genuine cider-making expertise. It will deliver something even more refreshing to the category for 18- to 34-year-old drinkers and a genuine incremental profit opportunity to the trade.”
