Eight bartenders enjoyed a VIP holiday to Ibiza after their bars won a nationwide on-trade initiative with Bulldog Gin.
Over the summer, the venues created serves and events that proved them to be key ambassadors to the brand, showcasing the core characteristics of the modern gin: “suitable for all occasions, versatile, sociable, stylish, instinctive and innovative”.
The winning bars included The Hedonist Project in Leeds – currently operating as Old Tom’s Gin Bar – which created the Bulldog Gin Matcha Sour with matcha tea syrup, lemon Chartreuse, fresh lemon juice and egg white. The bar almost exclusively featured Bulldog Gin on its gin cocktail menu, using it in 11 out of the 12 cocktails on the list.
Sygn in Edinburgh was a winner with the Little Brown Bag with kaffir lime-infused Bulldog Gin, white cacao, maraschino liqueur, lemon juice, cream and soda. It also held a Bulldog Gin consumer masterclass event, exclusively championing the brand throughout the night, hosted by head bartender Alex Palumbo and pairing the gin with food.
London rooftop bar and restaurant Sisu won its places in Ibiza through hosting the inaugural Bulldog Gin x PikesBrunch consumer event – inspired by Ibiza’s glamorous Pikes hotel – featuring Bulldog Gin cocktails such as a Supersonic Gin & Tonic and a Red Snapper alongside Ibiza DJs with saxophone accompaniment.
Sisu’s signature serve this summer was the Dog Day’s Spritz made with Bulldog Gin, crème de pêche, Appleton Estate White Rum, Aperol, Cynar, lemon juice and ginger ale.
Another winner was Handsome Jack’s, an upmarket barbershop in Glasgow, which created a special list of Bulldog Gin cocktails, promoting it creatively through social media.
The eight bartenders from the four venues stayed in a luxury villa and enjoyed a Bulldog Gin x Pikes brunch party, VIP club entry on the island including the Bulldog Gin Hard Rock Hotel Pool Party and bespoke Bulldog Gin paired feasts by Ibizan chef and DJ Sid Shanti.
Bulldog Gin ran the Road to Ibiza initiative “to give back and show dedicated support to the community of influential bartenders who have helped catapult the once independently owned gin brand to the globally prestigious premium gin that it is today”.
The winners were chosen based on either volume growth or advocacy, with a points system developed by distributor Campari UK to measure engagement. Key activities which scored high points included successful Bulldog Gin cocktail promotions, imaginative social media shout-outs featuring gorgeous content, packed Bulldog Gin parties and events at the venues, and expertly run consumer masterclasses.
