Cannabis infused craft beer hits the UK market

High Flyer

Manchester-based CBD Ultra and Cloud 9 Brewing have produced what is claimed to be the UK’s first CBD session IPA that is brewed with Cannabis Sativa extract.

The natural craft beer is packed with CBD, a health supplement derived from cannabis that has become hugely popular in the UK, with people using it for a range of reasons from anxiety and depression to muscle and joint pain.

Drinkers of High Flyer won’t feel the high associated with Cannabis use as the beer doesn’t contain the psychoactive compound THC. It does, however, contain five essential cannabinoids and over 40 terpenes which all work together synergistically to produce what is known as the “entourage effect”, a bodily state that magnifies the therapeutic benefits of the Cannabis plant’s individual components.

High Flyer is the brainchild of UK-based CBD Ultra, a premium CBD company selling a range of high-strength, organic CBD products ranging from edible gummy bears to full spectrum rich hemp oils, to CBD teas.

After experiencing unprecedented demand for CBD-based health supplements, the company formed Cloud 9 Brewing and partnered with acclaimed Bermondsey brewers to produce the craft beer.

CBD Ultra and Cloud 9 Brewing MD Carl Boon said: “We have been selling CBD products for the last year now and they have been so popular we have struggled to keep up with demand!

“It was only natural that the next step would be to produce a craft beer that encompassed all the flavours and aromas of a full session-strength IPA, but with the added benefits of CBD. We are very excited to be able to add this unique product to our range and to offer this for distribution to bars and pubs across the country.”

Following the explosion of cannabis-infused drinks in America, the UK is set to be the next biggest market for these tasty CBD tipples and, as such, there is already great interest in High Flyer, which offers the full taste profile of an expertly brewed IPA craft beer but with the added benefits of its full-spectrum CBD extract.
