London-based start-up Bloody Drinks is rolling out its range of premium canned, pre-mixed Bloody Marys to the UK market.
The new single-serve pre-mixed drinks have been created to offer bar operators a quick and convenient solution, while helping them eliminate wastage and the need to stock multiple perishable ingredients.
Protecting the cocktails from sunlight and oxygen, the canned packaging is 100% recyclable, easy to store and lightweight, reducing the carbon footprint of distribution.
The first of the range to launch in the UK is the brand’s signature Classic Bloody Mary, made with premium vodka, cream sherry, tomatoes from Italy and Spain, fresh lemons, Worcestershire sauce and soy sauce.
Bloody Drinks’ own peppery pickle juice and hot sauce, created using a mix of habanero peppers and bird’s eye chillies, adds “depth and give the cocktail it’s classic kick”.
All ingredients are non-GMO, with no additives, bulking agents, binders, gums, colourings or flavour enhancers.
Set to launch late 2019 is an alcohol-free variant, The Virgin, as well as The Bloody Samurai, a Japanese twist on classic, made with ingredients including dry sake, natural wasabi, pickled ginger, teriyaki, white miso and soy.
Friends and Bloody Mary fanatics Harry Farnham and Will Best founded Bloody Drinks in 2018.
Harry said: “Will and I are old friends who arguably love Bloody Marys too bloody much. We were frustrated by the inconsistency in quality of serve from one venue to another, and so decided to create a premium, canned Bloody Mary to address this.
“Our range hasn’t been designed by committee. We have spent the last year fine-tuning the recipe to create something that we love and that really demonstrates what a beautifully rich and complex drink the Bloody Mary can be.
“Canning was an obvious choice for us to not only ensure quality and convenience, but also ensure that the brand was as sustainable as possible.”
