Cleo Rocos launches AquaRiva tequilas

AquaRiva tequila and syrupA new range of tequilas was launched last night by The Tequila Society with events across Liverpool, led by tequila ambassador and TV celebrity Cleo Rocos.

The 100 per cent agave AquaRiva tequilas have been developed by Cleo with master blender Carlos Perez, particularly with bartenders in mind.

The AquaRiva Bar range features a blanco, which has citrus and white pepper notes with a light spiciness, and a reposado which is smooth with hints of ripe fruit and caramel biscuit.

“Talking over the years to bartenders, I was hearing about their frustration that, a lot of the time, they were having to work with inferior products,” Cleo said. “We developed a 100 per cent agave tequila that is designed for bartenders so they can be proud of the cocktails they are making and serving.”

Alongside these, they have created an AquaRiva Premium reposado which is aged in American oak for at least six months to produce a smooth and elegant full flavour – with no burn – for sipping or mixing in cocktails.

“I wanted to make tequilas that were interesting and complex and would work well in cocktails,” Cleo said. “Some tequilas are really made for sipping and don’t work so well in a Margarita.”

The range also includes AquaRiva Organic Agave Syrup which is 25 per cent sweeter than sugar syrup, so less of it needs to be used. It contains fewer calories per serve than sugar syrup and is lower on the glycemic index, making it ideal for “skinny” mixed drinks.

The UK launch of AquaRiva tequilas was held in Liverpool last night (July 26) with parties at venues such as Kingdom and Alma de Cuba. Listings already include airline Virgin Atlantic which is set to offer it in its Clubhouses from August.

The Tequila Society is run by Cleo and business partner Stuart Freeman to promote and import tequilas. It introduced tequilas Alma Mia and Don Alvaro into the UK in 2010.
