Cognac Larsen is launching a new ultra-premium XO expression made with a blend of the house’s oldest and finest eaux-de-vie.
Extra Or has been created by Larsen’s master blender, Robert Andrieux, using eaux-de-vie from the Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne areas to bring finesse, subtlety and elegance plus eaux-de-vie from the Fins Bois for rich, soft intensity.
Jérôme Durand, managing director at Cognacs Larsen and Renault, described the new XO as “quintessentially” Larsen. “Extra Or epitomises the Larsen style – which is all about purity, elegance and fruit expression –and takes it to another level.
“I think it is the purest and most majestic expression of our cognacs to date. It reflects what we have been doing over the past two years to rethink the brand’s identity and positioning and emphasise its heritage.
“It perfectly demonstrates our skill at blending and ageing older eaux-de vie. In terms of our offer to the market and to Cognac lovers it completes our portfolio perfectly.”
A rich mahogany colour with golden hints, Extra Or is described as having intense aromas of coffee, cocao, plums and vanilla on the nose and palate, underpinned by truffle and more balsamic notes, together with hints of spice and brioche.
Due to be available from October 1, it comes in a 70cl bottle with ABV of 40%. It will have a recommended price in retail of around £220.
