It aims to highlight “The Power of Positive Drinking”, named after the book written by AquaRiva’s founder Cleo Rocos, who champions “hangover-free” alcoholic drinks made with no artificial ingredients.
The competition is looking for bartenders who are “fun-loving”, inviting them to share some of their “most fabulous” experiences with alcohol – so long as they are suitable for publication.
“The drinks will be judged on flavour, appearance and on how well they promote positive drinking,” Cleo explained. “This competition is all about drinking quality over quantity and having fun. Make us laugh, give us wonderful sensations and lift our spirits with tales of happy trouble and glasses of fabulousness.
“Judges will be looking for glamour and style in both your creation and in the preparation and the presentation of your creation.”
There will be points available for the name of the drink and the story of the bartender’s wildest night out. “This competition aims not just to reward the creator of the best drink but to recognise those subtle nuances that separate a fabulous bartender from someone who is merely an accomplished drinks creator.”
With a deadline of August 31, entries must include the bartender’s name, the name of their bar with full address and contact details, the name of their drink, a full list of ingredients including any garnish and the method. It must include AquaRiva Blanco, Reposado or Handmade Reposado tequila.
All the ingredients must be natural and pure which is also the ethos of AquaRiva’s own Organic Agave Syrup.
Nine entrants will be selected to compete in each of three regional heats in Edinburgh, Manchester and London and the south-east. Three finalists from each heat will go on to the final in October 2013.
The competition has been launched after distribution of AquaRiva tequilas was taken over in the UK by premium spirits specialist Marblehead Brand Development.
