One of the UK’s top five-ranked energy consultancies, Consultus International has completed an 18-month strategic energy overhaul for leading UK hospitality operator, Arc Inspirations.
The Leicester-based firm successfully consolidated around 40 fragmented supply contracts into a single, flexible energy management framework across Arc’s nationwide estate.
Prior to the partnership, Arc Inspirations – operator of popular bar brands Banyan, BOX and Manahatta – managed its multi-site energy portfolio through reactive, meter-by-meter renewals with multiple suppliers.
This approach created significant administrative friction, limited market visibility and complicated long-term financial planning during a period of rapid business growth.
Managing multi-site energy needs in today’s volatile market requires total clarity of your business portfolio and the agility to adapt.
Adam Skelton, senior client manager at Consultus International, said: “Managing multi-site energy needs in today’s volatile market requires total clarity of your business portfolio and the agility to adapt. By transitioning Arc Inspirations from a reactive, multi-contract set-up to a cohesive group purchasing strategy, we’ve given them complete control over their energy roadmap and therefore freed up internal resources to support their continued success and expansion.
“Working with an energy consultant cannot be underestimated, especially for large, multi-site operations, as hospitality challenges continue and margins are squeezed. We’re really pleased with the outcomes achieved for Arc and wish them all the best for the future.”
To resolve the operational challenges, Consultus used a two-step approach for both short and long-term transformation. Stage one involved aligning the portfolio to transition all venue meters to a single supplier with conterminous contract end dates. This replaced 40 individual supply agreements, improving visibility, reducing administrative burden and giving greater control over energy purchasing decisions.
The second stage focused on shifting the business from fixed, reactive purchasing to a flexible purchasing arrangement to give the business yet more control over how and when energy is purchased. This was supported by Consultus’ ongoing market intelligence, detailed reporting and strategic reviews.
Pete Mummery, chief financial officer at Arc Inspirations, said: “Partnering with Consultus has fundamentally changed how we manage energy across our estate; what was once a fragmented portfolio of around 40 individual contracts is now a single, streamlined framework that gives us genuine visibility and control.
“Beyond the direct cost savings, the reduction in administrative burden has been huge, freeing up our team to focus on what matters most to the business. Consultus has been a trusted advisor throughout, providing clear market insight and strategic guidance that has transformed how we think about energy procurement, as well as being a true partner to me as CFO and the business more generally.”
