If ever there was a brand that summed up the word pioneering, it’s Marie Brizard. Created in France and made today in the Spanish hot spot of San Sebastian, these enduring and celebrated liqueurs and syrups are as iconic as some of the cocktails they’re used to create. And as a wide selection of our best-selling flavours become available in the UK for the first time, the Marie Brizard’s incredible heritage, quality and versatility are a big part of the story.

You have to go back over two centuries to trace the origins of the modern-day brand. It’s 1755 in Bordeaux and Marie Brizard has mixed her first ever liqueur – a homemade Anisette flavour which she would soon be serving up in the court of King Louis XV. After her first taste of success, Marie went on to develop her distinctive range of liqueurs and syrups. She experimented, crafting and bottling exquisite flavours of citrus, berries, chocolate and spice in a completely new way, influencing the cocktails, aperitifs and digestifs of the day in the process.

Today, all Marie Brizard Liqueurs and Syrups still hold on to the techniques and expertise of their founder, meaning they are made using 100% natural ingredients and no preservatives. The result is products that are of exceptional quality: bold, rich, aromatically intense and complex.

This relentless focus on flavour lies behind the love that Marie Brizard enjoys from the mixology community, who trust our products to help them create the best quality cocktails. The range is also regularly recognised in global spirits competitions. Marie Brizard was multi-awarded at the prestigious San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2023, with Elderflower scooping a double gold medal and our new Pineapple liqueur winning gold. There were additional medals for Passion Fruit, Royal Chocolate and the liqueur that started it all: Anisette.
