Deltic Group to transform Suffolk club into Unit 17

Unit 177 ipswich

A former Liquid & Envy nightclub in Suffolk is to be reopened as Unit 17 after a £650,000 investment by Deltic Group, formerly The Luminar Group.

The new entertainment concept, which will be the county’s largest-capacity triple-room nightclub, is due to be launched in Ipswich on July 24, employing 50 people.

The three distinctly designed rooms will have different music policies, catering for a wide range of customers. Arena will feature DJs playing current floor fillers, Xtra will have chart-topping commercial R&B, while Disco will play music through the decades.

Admission to the club in the Cardinal Park leisure development will be free before 10pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Unit 17 will offer Club Class where pre-booked customers will have their own fast-track entrance and reception area and will be seated in private booths where they will be looked after by a team of dedicated hosts. As well as a free cloakroom there will be other surprise benefits for Club Class customers.

Unit 17’s general manager Glen Freeman said: “With Unit 17 we are taking clubbing to the next level, offering the very best light and sound show in the region, with fantastic service and world-class DJs and entertainment.”

Thursdays will be targeted at female guests with personal appearances from TV stars. Friday nights will host Kiss FM’s most talented DJs, and Saturday will feature top national and international DJs delivering “the Ultimate Party”.

A new cocktail menu will be introduced, and groups will be able to create their own drinks at cocktail master classes. Unit 17 will also have an extensive list of good-quality spirits, wines, champagnes and craft beers.

Security will be led by a female front-of-house team, which Deltic believes will ensure a warm and friendly welcome on arrival. They promise a high ratio of staff to customers at the bar to minimise queuing.

Glen added: “Unit 17 is all about the biggest party in the county, the warmest welcome and three rooms of quality entertainment.”

Liquid has already closed its doors, but Envy will be open every Saturday until its last dance on Saturday June 27 when it will also shut until the club opens as Unit 17 on Friday July 24.

Liquid & Envy and Unit 17 are part of Deltic Group, the UK’s largest nightclub operator with 57 venues nationwide, which changed its name from Luminar last month.
