The Deltic Group is to transform its Oceana nightclub and WooWoo bar in Plymouth into new concepts after an £850,000 investment.
The venue in Barbican Leisure Park will become home to Pryzm – a multi-room club with high-quality sound systems and entertainment – and stylish bar Steinbeck & Shaw.
Due to be launched on Friday October 28, it will create up to 50 jobs. General manager Alex George and his team are recruiting for roles including experienced cocktail bartenders, general bar staff and customer care ambassadors.
WooWoo bar closed on Saturday (September 2) for the start of the two-month refurbishment although Oceana will continue to trade until Saturday October 15.
It will be the eighth site for Pryzm after openings in Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Kingston upon Thames, Leeds and Nottingham.
At the heart of Pryzm will be the main arena, showcasing the latest light and sound technology and frequently hosting international guest DJs and celebrities.
This will be complemented by Curve – a more intimate room with DJs playing the latest R&B chart tracks. For retro tunes, a disco room called Vinyl will feature a flashing dance floor and plenty of glitter balls.
With a stripped-back, raw and contemporary feel, Steinbeck & Shaw is inspired by the bars of Shoreditch in London. Plymouth’s will be the fifth location for the concept after it opened in Bristol (pictured), Cardiff, Hull and Canterbury in Kent.
The bar will feature walls of graffiti art, skull imagery and modern sculptures and offer an extensive range of freshly prepared cocktails and a premium drinks range of spirits, wines and craft beers against a soundtrack of an eclectic mix of music.
Groups and parties will be catered for in both venues with pre-bookable private booths all offering special packages and table service.
