The Deltic Group has invested £3m in creating new club Unit 7 (pictured) in Basildon in Essex – taking over £100,000 in its first week of trading.
The former site of Sky Bar in Festival Leisure Park has been doubled in size and revamped with three club rooms and a rooftop bar.
Opened last weekend, it is the latest completed project in Deltic’s £7.5m investment programme for 2015. Tonight sees the launch of the company’s new concept Bar & Beyond in Chelmsford in Essex after a £1m investment.
Bar & Beyond offers two distinct but complementary experiences, with a Shoreditch-style stripped-back bar to the front of the building, offering a wide range of craft beers, wines, cocktails and premium street food, plus Beyond, a warehouse club room promising high levels of service, entertainment and dance music.
Deltic’s chief executive Peter Marks said: “Our annual investment programme has delivered some great results. With investments in key locations including Exeter, Oxford and Windsor, we have struck on a winning formula that combines well-invested sites with an improved customer offer and market leading entertainment, which is delivering consistent results.”
Unit 7 – thought to be the biggest regional club investment in the UK in the last decade – took over £100,000 in its first week of trading and was sold out prior to opening on Friday and Saturday night.
Peter added: “Investment is a core part of our strategy and has been the reason why we have gone from strength to strength over recent years. We will continue along this path where we see opportunity to be part of thriving town centres that are prepared to work in partnership with us and recognise the value the late-night sector brings to the local economy.”
As part of its strategy to focus on core sites, Deltic has sold its Leicester club, Liquid & Envy, back to the landlord. It is the UK’s largest club and bar operator with 58 venues nationwide and 3,000 employees.
