Diageo and Oblix East launch Johnnie Walker Grand Voyage

Johnnie Walker Grand Voyage

Diageo Reserve’s Scotch whisky Johnnie Walker has teamed up with Oblix East to create a flavour experience that embodies the brand’s global journey.

Housed exclusively at experiential drinking and dining destination Oblix East, the Johnnie Walker Grand Voyage activation invites guests to taste premium whiskies and luxury cocktails infused with global flavours.

The eight different Johnnie Walker blends will be matched with small plates that reflect the flavours highlighted throughout the journey.

In keeping with the voyaging theme, a bespoke whisky vessel, designed to embody a shipping crate, houses eight tanks. Each is filled with a premium selection of Johnnie Walker blends.

Each tank is encased in wood that is infused with distinctive flavour profiles from around the world, such as apple, cinnamon, bergamot and chamomile from Europe, fig & ras el hanout from The Middle East, or tobacco, popcorn and walnut from the USA.

Infused via a reverse barrel process, the wood has been aged for over four weeks prior to the launch.

The vessel will permanently sit atop the bar at Oblix East and boasts designs inspired by the whisky shipping crates found in the Johnnie Walker archive.

Guests will receive an accompanying passport-style menu, highlighting the various regions (Scotland, Europe, Middle East, Asia, Australasia, Madagascar, South America and North America) and serves, giving guests the chance to stamp their visits to each part of the world.

Examples from the exclusive Johnnie Walker Oblix cocktail list include:

The Kilmarnok from Scotland, made with Johnnie Walker Double Black and is crafted as a Rob Roy with thistle weed and moss sweet vermouth and bitters.

The Tiberian Bounty, representing the Middle East, combines Johnnie Walker Black Label with alkermez and a ras an hanut absinth rinse.

Johnnie Walker’s Australasian influences are presented in the Terra Nova, a whiskey punch-style cocktail blending Jonnie Walker Green Label, yuzu, mango and grapefruit soda.

Asian flavours are encompassed within the Sea Dog, crafted as a Morning Glory with Johnnie Walker Blue Label, lemon, pasteurised egg white, absinth and soda water.

Three different Johnnie Walker Grand Voyage at Oblix East experiences can be booked in up to parties of ten, hosted by a Senior Bartender. Please note that 24 hours’ notice is required for booking. Enquiries can be made to events@oblixrestaurant.com.
