Diageo partners Liquorists for new Manchester bar

liquoristsDiageo Reserve Brands, the premium spirits arm of Diageo, has teamed up with consultancy The Liquorists for a pop-up bar in Manchester city centre.

Reserve by The Liquorists will open at 52 King Street on October 10, in the former premises of retailer All Saints, and run for three months, open Tuesday to Saturday from 11am until late.

Covering the ground and first floors, Reserve will offer original creative drinks and classic signature cocktails as well as locally produced craft beers plus drinks master classes and food and drink tastings.

There will also be a retail area on the ground floor selling high-end spirits from Diageo including Tanqueray gin, Don Julio tequila, Johnnie Walker whisky, Zacapa rum and Cîroc vodka.

Tom Sneesby, who founded Manchester-based The Liquorists with Jody Monteith, said: “Pairing up with a global force like Diageo Reserve Brands to bring a true first to the city is an exciting prospect.

“We’ve got a huge slate of events planned with some surprises to come towards Christmas. Reserve is about a total experience from retail to glass and we’re looking forward to bringing a bit of independent spirit to King Street.”

Reserve by The Liquorists is a joint venture with Diageo, with assistance from Sheffield cocktail bar The Great Gatsby and Cityco, which supports initiatives for improving the city and its economic growth to ensure it is competing on a national and international scale.

Simon Binns, manager of the Heart of Manchester Business Improvement District (BID) at Cityco. said: “The Liquorists are just the kind of creative, independent and forward thinking local business we’re looking to attract and encourage within the heart of the city. We’re also looking to encourage more high-end food and drink operations to King Street to complement the existing retail mix, so we hope it’s a great success.”

Councillor Pat Karney of Manchester City Council added: “King Street has a special place in our city’s shopping district and this unique venue and partnership will make it an even more vibrant place to be.”
