To celebrate the release of a new Disney film based on the Sleeping Beauty fairy tale, a “cursed concoction” has been introduced at London bar The Happenstance.

Maleficent’s Revenge is on the menu at the Drake & Morgan-owned venue in the City throughout May, made with a heady mix of Chairman’s Reserve Spiced Rum, Kahlúa liqueur and Chambord black raspberry liqueur.

Served in an elegant Martini glass, it is topped with a magnificent unfurling flame that rises up much like the dragon disguise of Maleficent – the evil queen in Sleeping Beauty.

It follows cocktails inspired by children’s stories at bars operated by Drake & Morgan across London, such as the Prince Charming, mixing spiced rum, pomegranate juice and chai-infused syrup, and George’s Marvellous Medicine, named after Roald Dahl’s modern classic, which mixes vodka, poppy liqueur, apple juice and poppy seeds, served in a swing-top “potion” bottle.

The Happenstance cocktail is inspired by Disney film Maleficent released in the UK on May 28 – a retelling of Sleeping Beauty from the perspective of the queen, played by Angelina Jolie.
