Double Dutch introduces global cocktail competition

Premium mixer brand Double Dutch has launched its first ever cocktail competition, offering bartenders the chance to win a trip to Amsterdam.

The ‘around the world’ themed competition challenges entrants to create a “taste sensation for their favourite country” using Double Dutch’s range of tonics and mixers.

Individual competitors will be judged on their product knowledge, the story behind their choice of cocktail and ingredients, as well as presentation, taste, bartending skills and delivery. The bartenders will be supplied with Double Dutch stock to craft their cocktail.

Regional heats will run until September 7 at host bars in Manchester, Leeds, Brighton, Bristol, Southampton and London, where at least five competitors will battle to impress judges and Double Dutch founders Raissa and Joyce de Haas.

The top ten will go on to compete in the final in London at the end of September. The ultimate prize will include a £1,000 trip for two to Amsterdam with travel and accommodation at 4-star hotel.

Raissa said: “We wanted to reflect on our journey and the fact that the Dutch have always been travellers and explorers, with Double Dutch no exception as it goes global.

“We wanted to see how the best bartenders and mixologists in the country would use Double Dutch’s innovative flavours to create a cocktail to represent their favourite country. We’re really looking forward to the competition.

“This a great opportunity for competitors and venues to get involved and discover Double Dutch premium tonics, which are growing in popularity.”
