Drake & Morgan announces new bars

Bar and restaurant group Drake & Morgan has revealed plans to launch two new sites in 2013, bringing its portfolio to seven.

Both new venues will be in the City of London in new developments from property company AXA Real Estate: The Happenstance will be at One St Paul’s (pictured) and The Haberdashery will be at Sixty London, Holborn.

They are both being designed by Fusion Design & Architecture, which has worked on Drake & Morgan’s other five sites in London including The Anthologist, The Parlour and The Folly. The interiors of the new venues are taking inspiration from bars and restaurants in Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tokyo.

The Happenstance will occupy 8,000 square feet of One St Paul’s, a development of offices and homes next to St Paul’s Cathedral. The 230-cover bar and restaurant will feature floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the cathedral and incorporate a bar, open kitchen, deli, mixology table, private dining room and florist.

The 478-cover Haberdashery will occupy just over 10,000 square feet across three floors, including a mezzanine level, at the Sixty London office development near Holborn Viaduct. It will have a bar, kitchen, deli, cheese and wine room and florist.

Managing director Jillian MacLean said: “We are delighted to be opening these new sites next year, and it’s fantastic that we can continue to provide the City with something that’s a little bit different, fresh and innovative.”

Harry Badham, head of UK development at AXA Real Estate, added: “The signing of Drake & Morgan at both Sixty London and One St Paul’s marks an important milestone for these developments and a genuine endorsement for the spaces we are creating.

“The design and operation of Drake & Morgan’s venues across London are perfectly aligned with the vision we have for Sixty London and One St Paul’s and underpin our commitment to create fantastic places, not only through innovative design but also by working with exceptional operators.”
