Drake & Morgan to open first bar outside of London in Edinburgh

Bar and restaurant group Drake & Morgan, which operates eight sites across London, has confirmed plans to open in Edinburgh.

For its first site outside of the UK capital, it is due to open the as-yet-unnamed bar in the new £75million office, retail and leisure development (pictured) at St Andrew Square in the New Town in autumn 2016.

With the company set to open its ninth premises, Drake & Morgan at King’s Cross, in September 2015, it will bring the size of the estate to 10.

Director of operations Dylan Murray said: “We are extremely excited to be opening our 10th site in Edinburgh where our founder Jillian MacLean has lived and worked. She is delighted to be returning to her roots with the brand she started back in 2008.

“The new bar and restaurant will be an extension of that same brand but will have its own distinct personality and character befitting of its location.

“Edinburgh is one of the most exciting cities in the UK, having been completely revitalised in recent years and now laying claim to a booming hospitality industry, and our offering will showcase the innovation that Drake & Morgan has become known for.

“Inspiring design, creative menus and a dialled-up service culture will be the cornerstones of the new site: attention to detail will be everything.”

The development, which has space for more bars and restaurants, is pictured above as a computer-generated image from one of its partners, Standard Life.
