DrinkAdvisor adds new features to become bar marketing tool

A new marketing tool has been launched for venues on bar-finding app DrinkAdvisor, allowing them to promote cocktails, promotions and events.

Under the banner of Barkeeper, it allows registered owners and managers of bars to manage profile information such as opening hours, contacts and the description.

Operators can post details of their signature cocktail, or a classic cocktail from a library of drinks, and publicise events and deals such as happy hours and party nights. Every time an event or deal is published, it can be sent to subscribers as a push notification.

To help bars monitor their popularity, each time someone clicks a venue’s “like” button, the venue will rise higher in that city’s listing.

Launched last year, DrinkAdvisor is a free app for iOS and Android that features bars and nightclubs in 210 towns and cities around the UK and overseas, with ratings and reviews posted by users.

Using a phone’s location, it lists the nearest venues and lets them share tips and invitations to friends via Facebook.

It is available in nine languages – English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Korean, Japanese, Russian and Chinese – to make it popular both for locals and frequent travellers.
