DrinkAdvisor launches updated bar and club app

drink advisorA new version of DrinkAdvisor, the app featuring the best bars and clubs in cities across the UK and around the world, has been released for smartphones and tablets.

After being launched in November last year, DrinkAdvisor version 2.0 is designed to make it even easier to get detailed descriptions of nearby venues, see photos of the interior, read user reviews and check opening hours.

It has been designed by independent developer Rilon for Android, iPhone and iPad, available for free from the App Store and Google Play.

The app taps into a database of over 6,000 of the best bars and clubs, reviewed and rated by users, in more than 130 cities including London, Paris, New York, Cape Town and Moscow.

In the UK, it covers Aberdeen, Bath, Belfast, Birmingham, Brighton, Bristol, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle upon Tyne, Oxford and Sheffield.

It can be used to call up a list of the best nightspots nearby, with updates and new bars and nightclubs being added every day. People can create lists of favourites for using offline.

Users can rate and review each venue as well as check in and upload their own photos. They can also recommend a venue for inclusion: for instance, Southsider Cocktail Club in Battersea, London, was added after Bar magazine used the app to alert the content team that it should be listed.

Each venue listing also contains comprehensive contact information as well as access to a live map and directions.

DrinkAdvisor also lets users link to Facebook, Twitter and Google Plus to share their tips as well as invite their friends out for drinks at a specific bar or club.

The new app also features a catalogue of spirits and liqueurs as well as the most popular cocktails, including interesting facts, aimed at people who want to make drinks at home. The recipes, which are not currently listed alphabetically, are in parts rather than millilitres, with a picture showing how it should look.

DrinkAdvisor can be downloaded for Android at Google Play by clicking here and for iPads and iPhones by clicking here.
