Trophies have been awarded to the best in the drinks industry, including distributor Maverick Drinks and spirits producers Chivas Brothers, The Sazerac Company and William Grant & Sons.
They were announced at the International Wine & Spirits Competition (IWSC)’s awards presentation and banquet at the Guildhall in the City of London last night.
The UK’s Maverick Drinks, which supplies premium spirits and liqueurs to the trade including its own unique products, was named spirits distributor of the year.
The trophy for distiller of the year went to The Sazerac Company, which produces Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, George T Stagg and other whiskeys at the Buffalo Trace Distillery, distributed in the UK by Hi-Spirits. It also won the American and Caribbean spirits producer trophy.
Chivas Brothers, which makes Beefeater gin, Plymouth Gin and whiskies such as Chivas Regal, Ballantine’s and The Glenlivet, was named UK spirits producer of the year.
The trophy for international spirits producer went to William Grant & Sons Distillers which makes leading brands such as Hendrick’s Gin, Tullamore Dew whiskey, Sailor Jerry spiced rum, Reyka Vodka, and whiskies including The Balvenie, Grant’s and Glenfiddich.
Among the trophies for wine producers, Nyetimber won the trophy for English wine producer of the year while Champagne P&C Heidsieck was named wine producer and champagne producer of the year.
