Edinburgh bars get ready to celebrate cocktails in the city

Bars and bartenders from across Edinburgh are to come together under one roof for a festival of cocktails in collaboration with leading drinks brands.

Cocktails in the City is returning for one night only on October 23, taking over Edinburgh’s spectacular Mansfield Traquair from 6pm onwards for the consumer-oriented event.

Cocktails in the City will feature 15 of the city’s best bars running pop-ups with serves developed with premium drinks brands. The organisers promise that, on entry, people will enjoy “an immersive and interactive experience that teases all the senses”.

Participating venues include Harvey Nichols Forth Floor bar, working with Chase Marmalade Vodka, and the G&V Royal Mile Hotel, partnering with Diageo’s new grain whisky Haig Club.

Thai restaurant and bar Chaophraya will pop up with Havana Club Rum, while Juniper at Twenty Princes Street is partnering No 3 Gin. Bar Kohl is partnering Iceland’s Reyka Vodka and Heads & Tales below the Rutland Hotel, best known for its gins, will run a pop-up with El Dorado 5 Year Old rum.

Living Ventures’ Gusto Bar and Restaurant is teaming up with Chambord, and speakeasy-style cocktail bar Panda & Sons will be working with Emporia Brands’ “bread wine” spirit Polugar.

The Blackbird’s pop-up will feature Belvedere Vodka while Hamilton’s will be teaming up with Gentleman Jack whiskey. 56 North will be serving drinks with Whitley Neill Gin, and The Priory Bar and Restaurant is partnering Lamb’s Spiced Rum.

Other bars expected to take part include Sygn, The Voodoo Rooms, 99 Hanover Street and Clouds & Soil bar which has been opened by the team behind Leith’s Bond No 9.

Cocktails in the City will also host free cocktail making classes and one-on-one tuition with some of the world’s finest bartenders and industry experts.

There will also be edible alcoholic treats in the Sweets and Treats Zone and a free Harvey Nichols beauty SOS Makeover from a team of nail, hair and beauty technicians. One lucky visitor can also win a Tsingtao/Cocktails in the City Vespa.
