Ei Group bars and pubs to tap into booming coffee market

Licensees at bars and pubs owned by Ei Group can tap into the booming coffee market through a new offering developed with manufacturer Fracino.

The Beerista Coffee Company package includes a suitable coffee machine to meet each outlet’s needs, appropriate training support for the machinery provided, pricing structure guidance, 100% Arabica coffee and crockery, quality control measures, range suggestions and marketing collateral.

It has been designed to support licensees with all aspects of developing and running a suitable and profitable coffee offering. It includes a full audit on an individual bar or pub’s coffee requirements and a tailored coffee solution recommendation.

In partnership with manufacturer Fracino, Beerista Coffee Company offers several market-leading coffee machines, ranging from small-volume capsule machines to high-volume automated and traditional machines, which will be issued dependent on the requirements of each bar or pub.

As well as being offered to all tenants and lessees within Ei Group’s estate, it is being rolled out to its managed Bermondsey Pub Company estate.

It will help licensees tap into the UK’s booming coffee market. According to a new report this week from leading coffee research group Allegra, the £9.6billion UK coffee shop market grew by 7.3% in turnover during 2017.

The Project Café2018 UK report from Allegra World Coffee Portal reveals that the total UK coffee shop market added 1,215 stores over the last 12 months to reach 24,061, representing 5.3% growth.

Paul Farr, head of food at Ei Group, said: “Unlocking the potential of every pub in our estate is something we’re passionate about and dedicated to achieving. Helping our publicans construct the right coffee offer gives them the opportunity to tap into different day parts and take on the high street coffee chains that have been challenging the traditional UK pub’s position as the community hub.

“We’re not trying to reinvent the wheel and have focused on doing the simple things right. This doesn’t mean wholesale changes, just a few little tweaks that make a big difference to quality when you add them up, such as supplying the 100% Arabica coffee we use in 250g bags, so that it doesn’t have a chance to go off in low-volume scenarios.

“As well as offering Beerista Coffee Company to our leased and tenanted estate, we will roll it out across our Bermondsey Pub Company portfolio. As ever, Beerista is an evolving offer, so being able to take key learnings from our managed estate and share best practice with publicans across our wider portfolio adds value to the entire business.”

To support with the roll-out, Ei Group’s regional managers have undergone an extensive internal training course to top up their knowledge with the latest trends and innovation. As well as supporting with implementation, they will offer ongoing advice and conduct quality control tests for sites in their area.
