El Bandarra – the aperitivo from Barcelona – starts a new adventure in the UK joining the ranks of the premium drinks specialist Proof Drinks. A new distribution partnership that will see El Bandarra becoming more widely available in the UK in both the on- and off-trade.
This premium aperitivo brand, known by its posh-free Spritz and its bold attitude, is not new to the UK. In 2022 alone, the team behind El Bandarra has taken the country by storm with fun and engaging events like Aperitivo Week (an 8 day celebration of this drink) and Bar to Barcelona (the rogue bartender competition), the launch of a solidarity cocktail for the elderly (Nan-groni) and its presence in festivals like Love Supreme, The Big Feastival or Between the Bridges.
Now, the brand is taking a step forward and partnering with Proof Drinks with the aim of widening its horizons thanks to Proof’s cross-channel expertise and knowledge of the premium spirits sector.
El Bandarra aperitivo is made with Spanish wines, mediterranean botanicals, a touch of grapefruit and tones of attitude: a liquid reflection of Barcelona’s rituals and culture. Together with 3 delicious vermouths, complete an eye-catching foursome, bottled in unique design bottles inspired in the golden age of the vermouth in Spain, when the bars of Barcelona hand painted the tapas they offered on their windows with colourful lettering.
The masterminds behind the brand are the twin brothers Alex and Albert Virgili two restless spirits that have transformed their family 19th century winery with his revolutionary ideas, category-challenging products and one-of-a-kind events and parties.
