Europe’s bars and bartenders set for biggest-ever Bar Convent Berlin

Bar Convent Berlin 2016

Bartenders from the UK and the rest of Europe are set to come together for the 11th outing of the Bar Convent trade show in Berlin which is set to be bigger than ever.

Taking place on October 10 and 11, it will take up all of Station Berlin’s 10 halls, covering a total floor space of 18,000 square metres – about 2,000 more than last year – offering inspiration to bars and bartenders.

More than 300 exhibitors are expected at this year’s show, including many of the top drinks brands and companies including Angostura, Bacardi, Bulldog Gin, Campari, Cartron, Death’s Door Spirits, Douglas Laing & Co, East London Liquor Company, Ferrand, Fortaleza, Franklin & Sons mixers, Funkin, Giffard, Hayman’s Gin, Italicus Rosolio de Bergamotto, Jägermeister, Marussia Beverages, Monin, Patrón, The Poshmakers, Sipsmith, Spirit of Harrogate and Teeling. Coffee will feature more prominently, with a separate show, The Coffee Convent Berlin, run alongside in collaboration with coffee expert Cory Andreen.

One focus will be France, the show’s official Country of Honour this year, under the slogan of “Made in France – Made with Love”, with 10 exhibitors coming together in a pavilion showcasing the country’s spirits and sparkling wines.

The programme of speakers and presentations includes the “Behind the Bars” series on the central Mixology Stage. It will present the success stories of three bars in Paris: Jonathan Akhavan will talk about Mabel while Sullivan Doh will discuss Le Syndicat and La Commune.

The four Demo Bars will be hosted by exhibitors this year, covering a broad range of topics. Visit for a full programme. There will also be two Taste Forums at Bar Convent, covering drinks ranging from armagnac and aquavit through to calvados and champagne to rum and whisky.

Bar Convent will be preceded by the Global Drinks Forum on October 9 at the Ellington Hotel Berlin, with a day-long conference programme looking at the latest topics in the drinks industry. View the full programme at
