Bars from the UK, Spain and the US have been chosen as finalists in an international competition run for Brockmans Gin to find a cocktail for tomorrow’s World Gin Day.

They are Gin71 in Glasgow, The Walrus Room and Reverend JW Simpson in London, The Churchill in Manhattan in New York City, and La Habanera in Madrid, which entered recipes in a competition launched in May.

The winning “Brocktail” will be chosen by a public vote running online on World Gin Day, June 11. The five cocktails will be revealed tomorrow at http://bit.ly/1VJRp2C, part of Brockmans Gin’s Facebook page. The overall winner will be announced on June 13.

On World Gin Day, Brockmans will be working with bartenders at Pleased To Meet You bar in Newcastle upon Tyne to create the five “Brocktail” recipes, all of which will feature on a special cocktail menu available only for that evening.

Entries came from France, Germany, Ireland, Spain, the UK and the USA. Bob Fowkes, co-founder and marketing director of Brockmans Gin, said: “We had nearly 30 entries, many of them brilliant.”
