Finest Call issues speed challenge with Kentucky prize

A speed challenge has been launched for bartenders using the Finest Call Premium Cocktail Mix range with the prize of a trip to Kentucky.

Between now and the end of August, judges will be touring the UK to test bartenders’ skills in making four popular cocktails: a Mojito, a Margarita, a Cosmopolitan and a sweet and sour drink.

The winner will be the individual with the fastest overall combined time for all four cocktails that are good-quality, consistent and delicious-tasting. Time penalties will be added for any mistakes made, including spillages, poor presentation, taste or technique.

Each one-to-one Speed League challenge will be judged by Steve Dingley, Northern Europe brand manager for Finest Call owner American Beverage Marketer, or Peter Thornton, brand manager at UK distributor Cellar Trends, or another Cellar Trends brand representative.

The fastest bartender of the Finest Call Speed League will win a money-can’t-buy all-expenses-paid trip to Louisville, Kentucky, as guests of American Beverage Marketers.

They will have the opportunity to visit some of the world’s best-known bourbon distilleries as well as the American Beverage Marketers plant and the Distilled Spirits Epicentre, a training and education centre.

The two runners-up will both receive an engraved cocktail shaker to commemorate their efforts. The results will displayed on an online leaderboard, which all participants will be able to visit to see how their performances compare.

Peter said: “As cocktails are appearing on more pub and bar menus across the UK, we wanted to demonstrate how easy it is to produce high-quality, consistent serves within a matter of seconds.

“Finest Call products take away the need for extensive training sessions as the recipes are easy to remember, or for expensive ingredients which we find, are often the barriers to putting cocktails on the menu.

“We feel the Speed League challenge is a fun and engaging way to introduce the brand and demonstrate that cocktails can be an easy serve, and of course one which is very profitable for the pub or bar owner.”
