Award-winning bartender and whisky expert David Sinclair (pictured) has been appointed brand ambassador for Diageo’s new single-grain scotch Haig Club in the UK.
He moves into the role after working as whisky ambassador for Diageo’s premium Reserve Brands but he previously spent more than 15 years working at bars in luxury hotels.
He managed the bar at the renowned Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland for seven years and worked at the Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong and the luxury Westbury Hotel in London’s Mayfair.
In 2011 he was crowned winner of the Glenfiddich Malt Mastermind competition to find the UK’s leading whisky expert in the on-trade.
In his new role, David will draw on his experience and expertise to provide insights to key bartenders and off-trade customers across the UK and to educate them about Haig Club – launched this summer by Diageo with footballer David Beckham and music entrepreneur Simon Fuller.
David said: “There has never been a more exciting time for scotch whisky and to be involved in the launch of Haig Club is a real honour – it is a whisky which truly challenges all of the whisky myths.
“As a bar manager you are always looking for new ways to bring consumers into the whisky category and as a true enthusiast I believe that Haig Club is the perfect whisky to do just that.”
