A former bartender with Be At One bars is preparing to open his own cocktail bar in south-east London.

Deniss Petrovs has taken on a new 20-year lease on the former site of sports bar and live music venue Patrick’s on Westow Hill in Crystal Palace and is developing it into a new concept called Cocktail Embassy.

Due to open shortly, it is the first venture for Deniss who was previously assistant general manager of Be At One in Fenchurch Street, London. He has also worked at other London bars including The Vault in Woodford Green, The Attic bar the 48th floor of Pan Peninsula in Canary Wharf, Gaucho in Canary Wharf and Fabric nightclub.

The site, which benefits from a late licence at weekends and being close to Crystal Palace Overground station, was let through leisure property specialist Davis Coffer Lyons.

Charlotte Wild, a chartered surveyor at Davis Coffer Lyons, said: “This will be one of the first cocktail bars in the area and marks a step change in the quality and price point of the area’s bar scene.

“The demographic of the area has changed significantly over recent years and this is now being recognised by operators who are looking to capitalise on the opportunity it presents and relatively low property prices.”
