Franklin & Sons soft drinks range grows with new mixers

A new range of botanical mixers has been launched by Global Brands as part of its soft drinks brand Franklin & Sons.

The new additions are Natural Indian Tonic Water, Original Ginger Ale, Sicilian Lemon Tonic and low-calorie Natural Light Tonic Water, available in single-serve recyclable 200ml bottles.

They are made entirely with natural ingredients such as root ginger extract, Sicilian lemon and cinchona bark extract from Ecuador plus spring water from Staffordshire.

They follow the launch this summer of the Franklin & Sons brand which dates back to a leading soft drinks producer founded in 1886 in Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire on the outskirts of London.

The first products in the new range comprised Sicilian Lemonade & English Elderflower with crushed juniper, Wild Strawberry & Scottish Raspberry with cracked black pepper, British Dandelion & handpicked Burdock with star anise, Cloudy Apple & Yorkshire Rhubarb with cinnamon, and Ginger Beer & Malted Barley with a squeeze of lemon.

Simon Green, marketing director for Global Brands, said: “Franklin & Sons is a brand rooted in its Victorian heritage and has a passion for original, great-tasting drinks.

“With the latest range of premium tonics, we are establishing links in the brand’s home city of London as well as the best bars across the UK and further afield.”

The tonics were launched yesterday at City of London Distillery bar where the mixers are already stocked. The bar team has developed a special serve, The Franklin’s 1886, which combines 125ml of Franklin & Sons Sicilian Lemon Tonic with 40ml of sloe gin over ice, garnished with a fresh twist of lemon peel.
