Funkin launches rhubarb syrup developed with leading bartender

Cocktail ingredient specialist Funkin has worked with a leading bartender to develop the first branded 100% natural rhubarb syrup in the UK on-trade.

It is launching Funkin Rhubarb Syrup as part of a collaboration with Dan Redman-Hubley who won the brand’s 2014 Innovation Champion competition.

With its intense flavour, hint of tartness and deep pink colour, Funkin Rhubarb was exclusively introduced to hand-selected members of the on-trade at Funkin’s Innovation Round Table this summer where it was met with an overwhelmingly positive response.

Crafted specifically for cocktails and sweetened with pure sugar cane syrup, this new product captures the rich flavour of rhubarb and is perfect for adding a twist to classic cocktails such as a Mojito or Bellini.

Funkin senior brand manager Joana Lenkova said: “Funkin has an extensive range of syrups and with our new rhubarb flavour we are answering the call of bartenders once more.

“Rhubarb is an amazing ingredient that is being used in the kitchens of leading restaurants and is now being adopted by bartenders in cocktail bars.

“The challenge for bartenders however is creating a consistent-quality product that tastes great every time. Funkin Rhubarb Syrup is the answer to that challenge, supplying bartenders of virtually any skill level the opportunity to craft delicious cocktails no matter the season.”

Funkin Rhubarb Syrup is available in cases of six 36cl glass bottles.
