Funkin seeks bartender to be Innovation Champion

Funkin Daiquiri 1ltr pourA nationwide competition has been launched for cocktail brand Funkin to recruit a bartender who will be an “Innovation Champion” to work within the company’s team of mixologists.

Going beyond a traditional brand ambassador’s role, the prize will be a paid part-time freelance job for one year with a chance to bring their own perspective, experience and creativity to future product development.

Contenders will be asked to showcase their flair and imagination by creating an innovative cocktail using Funkin products that represents their individual spirit. They will also need to write a 100-word explanation on why they should be selected to become the new Funkin Innovation Champion.

Shortlisted candidates will have a chance to mix their signature cocktail and show off their passion for mixology face to face with a Funkin representative.

The final will take place in September, culminating in candidates going head to head in a cocktail competition before a panel of Funkin representatives including leading mixologist and Funkin consultant Ben Reed.

Funkin said the Innovation Champion would “not only gain invaluable insight and knowledge into cocktail innovation, but also play an integral part in maintaining the brand’s strong relationship with bartenders, educating them on the benefits of creating a strong cocktail offering with the help of Funkin”.

They will promote Funkin at popular trade and consumer shows throughout the year and help create a buzz around the cocktail industry through press engagement and social media interaction. As it is a part-time role, the Innovation Champion will be able to continue working in their bar.
