Funkin targets bartenders with London Cocktail Week pop-up

Cocktail specialist Funkin is to host a schedule of activity for London Cocktail Week through a pop-up including a bartender master class.

The Funkin pop-up bar will be in the London Cocktail Week Village at Old Spitalfields Market for the whole festival from October 5 to 11.

Throughout the week, there will be 300 prize giveaways to consumers visiting the bar who can take a lucky dip for a chance to win. Some will be rewarded with a 10-second speed challenge, which aims to give consumers the opportunity to make their own cocktail in three easy steps with Funkin cocktail mixes: “ice in, spirit in, Funkin!”.

The activity is supported by social media activity where Funkin is running consumer competitions, giving away London Cocktail Week wristbands and free drinks in a private VIP area of the bar.

Funkin will also showcase its range of purées and syrups to bartenders and work with them to bring the art of cocktail-making to life for consumers, including the new FunkinPro Citric Syrup.

It will host a “Trick & Treats Cocktail Hour” on the afternoon of Wednesday October 7 where guests will be able to create personalised Funkin sherbet cocktails with their choice of Absolut flavoured vodka.

On Thursday October 8, the newly appointed Funkin Innovation Champion, Massimo Zitti (pictured), will take the stage to run a bartender master class as well as host consumers at the bar – the first outing for the bartender from Manchester’s Cane & Grain since winning the competition.

Funkin will also be working with its on-trade accounts to create its first “Bar Takeover” during London Cocktail Week. The “flash” takeover will see bartenders from some of its accounts surprising guests by taking the reins at the Funkin pop-up bar, adding their twist to create a bespoke Funkin cocktail menu for the evening.
