In time for National Tequila Day on Thursday (July 24), Gabriela Moncada Peña (pictured), brand ambassador for Jose Cuervo, rounds up some of the best places in London and beyond to enjoy Jose Cuervo

Cuervo’s Cantina at Skylounge, the stunning rooftop bar in Tower Hill, offers delicious bespoke Jose Cuervo tequila cocktails and Mexican food with a side of stunning views. Enjoy jugs of Tequila Sangrias, Mexican Mules, Diablos or Palomas for £20 or a frozen Margarita and watch the sunset behind a backdrop of the Gherkin, The Shard and Tower Bridge.

Benito’s Hat will also be celebrating National Tequila Day with a pop-up taco and tequila bar at its Leadenhall restaurant. Head chef Felipe will be hand-pressing corn tortillas from scratch whilst the tequila bar will be offering shots and premium sipping tequila for those who want to learn a little more about the spirit.

For those after more of a long drink, the Margarita menu offers a variety of flavours including pomegranate and strawberry, using Jose Cuervo Tradicional Silver, a 100% agave blanco tequila, which has just launched in the UK. Gabriela will be on hand for tasting sessions and the first 50 people on July 24 will also receive a free Jose Cuervo-branded T-shirt.

Tequila lovers who prefer to stay west can pop over to Tonteria, the eclectic Mexican tapas lounge and tequila nightspot on Sloane Square, to sip some shots. Paying homage to the Cuervo Express, a train that runs to the town of Tequila in Mexico, Tonteria’s legendary Jose Cuervo Tequila Train drives along the ceiling to deliver your favourite tequila shot to your table.

For those who live outside the capital, there are still plenty of places to celebrate. Brighton’s Sidewinder will be celebrating with tequila, cocktails and the launch of the Smokin’ Gringo Mexican kitchen with live music, piñata smashing, DJs, an outdoor bar and barbecue as well as freebies and give-aways.

Topolabamba, Glasgow’s newest authentic Mexican restaurant, is offering delicious Mexican bites whilst you sip on one of the fresh Jose Cuervo House Margaritas such as Green Apple or Fresh Watermelon. If the sun’s beaming down, why not try the Cuervo Frozen Strawberry Margarita to cool down? The bar will also be giving away complimentary Cuervo T-shirts to commemorate the day.
