Germany’s Radeberger Pilsner enters UK market

Radeberger Pilsner

Radeberger Pilsner – one of the top five Pilsner brands in Germany – has been introduced in the UK through drinks distributor Copestick Murray.

Established in 1872, Radeberger Pilsner was one of the first German Pilsners and is brewed exclusively in Radeberg, near Dresden, in east Germany. It is owned by Radeberger Group, part of Oetker Group.

Using high-quality hops and barley and locally sourced soft pure water, the result is a well-balanced and elegant Pilsner, with freshness and intensive hop notes. It has ABV of 4.8%.

Exported to over 87 countries, Radeberger Pilsner is particularly popular in the USA and Canada but has not been available in the UK market until now.

Also part of Oetker Group, Copestick Murray is a distributor of wines such as the I Heart Wines range and Mionetto prosecco as well as spirits and mixers. It will look after Radberger in both the on- and off-trade.

Robin Copestick, managing director of Copestick Murray, said: “As our company has already diversified into selling premium mixers and spirits, it was only a matter of time before we also started selling beer.

“Radeberger is a truly great brand, the beer is fantastic and the fact that we are part of the same group is even better. We already have many customers who are interested in the product and over the next few weeks we will be finalising our brand plans and commercial proposition. This is genuinely exciting for Copestick Murray and our customers.”

Jörg Peter, international marketing director from Radeberger Group, added: “Radeberger is a major global beer brand and we needed someone within the UK who had a proven track record of selling brands.

“We have been impressed with the work that Copestick Murray have done with I Heart Wines and Mionetto and we felt they would be the ideal partner for us. We are part of the same group so that is a natural fit but it was their brand-building expertise that really drew us to Copestick Murray.”
