The worlds of bartending and tattoos come together in a second edition of a book produced by Giffard liqueurs under the banner of Spirit of Art.
After the launch in 2015 which focused on UK bartenders, the latest edition focuses on bartenders in Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. It was launched at the Cocktails Spirits show at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris in June.
Giffard, the premium French liqueur brand, has developed the campaign because of the artistry that goes into making its products, matched by the artistry that goes into creating cocktails and tattoos.
As the blurb for the book explains, “The perfect cocktail is born when bartenders pour their hearts, personalities, and expertise into the creation. So it’s no surprise they find a similar mode of self-expression in tattoos. Both ingredients and ink tell us where they’ve been, what they like, and who they are, cementing the relationship between these two subcultures.”
Spirit of Art features not just portraits but also tells the stories of 44 bartenders’ tattoos. It also reveals the inspiration behind their cocktails and how Giffard folds into the mix.
The bartenders also share insider tips, recipes and insights into their local bar and coffee scenes.
