A new all-day restaurant, bar and late night music venue called Gigi’s Hoxton has arrived at Hoxton Square in Shoreditch.
Taking over the former site of Zigfrid von Underbelly, Gigi’s Hoxton is the brainchild of Giovanna Hussain, the name behind popular east London venues such The Corner Shop, The Rocksteady and The Grapevine.
Located in the heart of Shoreditch’s cultural quarter, Gigi’s Hoxton presents a space where up to 250 guests can enjoy live music and DJ sets alongside “a sophisticated food and drink offering”.
The industrial and colourful design of Gigi’s reflects Giovanna’s eclectic personal style. The interior features a long bar topped with smooth green wasabi stone and lit by neon signs, bespoke murals with strong feminine themes, relaxed sofas and zinc-covered tables.
Gigi’s restaurant menus have been created by head chef Antonio Mollo, whose Italian heritage and passion for exuberant, high-quality ingredients are reflected in fresh, cosmopolitan dishes.
Sharing plates, fragrant fish dishes and seasonal salads are complemented by a laid-back brunch menu that plays on regional Italian dishes and classic British favourites.
Examples from the menu include pan-fried scallops with asparagus cream, purple cauliflower and a lemon and thyme bread crumble, and beetroot carpaccio with rocket, green apple, goats cheese, walnuts and honey lemon dressing.
The wine list at Gigi’s features a selection of Italian, French and New World favourites alongside English, organic and natural wines, while Budvar beer is offered on tap, alongside
a selection of bottled options.
Gigi’s cocktails have been designed to ease that transition between day and night, with light, aromatic options for the afternoon and early evening drinking, to heady concoctions for the late-night buzz.
Downstairs is Hoxton Underbelly, a continuation of one of east London’s most popular live venues and an important creative hub in the area’s thriving music scene.
Sister venue to Gigi’s, the 200 capacity Hoxton Underbelly will host live bands, comedy, DJs and club nights, welcoming back old friends to the venue while continuing to attract the best new names in pop, indie, rock and house.
