Matt Cusworth from Hoot the Redeemer in Edinburgh is a UK winner in Gin Mare’s international bartender competition seeking cocktails showcasing “the essence of the Mediterranean”.
Competitors who reached the final, which took place in London, were asked to come up with an on-trend low-ABV serve and a twist on a G&T, with bartenders from bars such as The American Bar at The Savoy, Annabelle’s, Original Sin, Roka & Mr Fogg’s.
Winning with his gastronomical drink entitled Primer, Matt will be whisked off to Villa Mare in Ibiza to compete in the Global Final next month alongside winning bartenders from Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore and the US.
Following the Global Final, one overall winner will gain a dinner for two people at a 3 Michelin Star restaurant on a location later to be disclosed with a fully-paid 5 star hotel for two nights.

25ml Arbequina olive oil washed dry vermouth
25ml Tomato & saffron cordial
25ml Soda water
Garnish with four micro basil leaves and an ice sphere.
