Glam it up

It’s that time of the year again: spring cleaning spree! We have asked professionals in the industry to help us out; here are our top 5 tips to make your outdoor space the best good-looking spot your guests have ever visited.

1. FLOWERS

Lots and lots of them. On the tables, as place holders, on little dainty vases all around your venue – they look pretty and smell nice anywhere you put them. The guests won’t have to fight for the ultimate Instagram-proof picture, and the publicity helps too!

“Simple vases with a single flower placed on tables by day and swapped out at dusk for a candle to relax the atmosphere” says Paul A. Christodoulou MIH, National Account Manager Out Of Home UK & Ireland.

2. SUNSCREEN IS IMPORTANT…

…But being in the shade helps! For your hottest days, think of quirk beach umbrellas, parasols and tents to keep your consumers happy.

“We’ve seen their revenue dramatically increase after installing a bespoke tent for any of our clients, “says Marcus Williams, General Manager at My Tent. “With extra seating, heaters and chic touches like festoon lighting, a stretch tent provides a whole new aspect to your venue to play with.”

3. PLANNING WILL SAVE YOU

With all the outdoor solutions that have been supporting businesses throughout the pandemic, most venues now have the opportunity of an accessible outdoor space all year long. If that’s your case scenario, you must be planning in advance. Getting the right providers, restocking, and freshening up the decor are all part of a long process that cannot be taken lightly.

“Payments can be spread over 12 – 60 months,” reports Trevor Ruddle, Director at Indigo Awnings Ltd, “and in fact, the daily takings and thus profits far exceeds the monthly payments and this helped many outlets to get back on their feet.”

4. KEEP UP WITH THE TRENDS

Get to know your audience and find out what they like. From design choices, to exclusive menus dedicated to your outdoor space, there are many ways to keep your audience interested – which means keeping your bar busy!

Caitlin Hart, Marketing Manager at Madison, comments: “We decorate our terrace seasonally with a theme which helps create newsworthy stories across social. The layout of the terrace tends to stay the same to keep it practical and also safe post Covid.”

5. HAVE FUN

Have fun with the space, have fun with the flowers, the lights, the menu design – but most of all, have fun with the service! A kind, efficient, welcoming staff is always the main factor to a guest’s satisfaction with the experience, everything else is for special effects!

Marketing and Event Manager at Nine Lives, Emma Young, shares their excitement: “We are very fortunate that our outdoor space allows us to almost triple our indoor capacity and with spring and summer in touching distance, we are very much looking forward to welcoming people back to our beautiful beer garden!”
