Edrington has unveiled The Glenrothes’ The Soleo Collection, a range of six, age-statement, single malt Scotch whiskies made from sherry-seasoned oak casks.
The Speyside distillery is replacing its range of classic vintage whiskies with a series of age-stated malts that “talk to the modern drinker without pretence or fanfare”.
With expressions ranging from 10 years to 40 years old, the Soleo Collection celebrates the “multi-dimensional flavour experience” of single malt whisky derived from wood and cask.
All are matured in sherry-seasoned oak casks for “additional depth” and also bottled at natural colour.
The new whiskies in the range include Glenrothes Soleo Collection 10 year old, 12 year old, 18 year old, 25 year old, 40 year old and Glenrothes Soleo Collection Whisky Maker’s Cut.
Described as the hero of the range, the 12 year old is “smooth and mellow on the palate with comforting notes of rich, creamy vanilla and warm cinnamon”.
Gordon Motion, master whisky maker at The Glenrothes, said: “The Glenrothes is a true and honest single malt.
“We believe in sharing the inspiration behind how and why we create the whiskies we do – showcasing the fundamentally simple yet natural process of whisky-making, a previously undisclosed part of the story.
“The Soleo Collection illustrates this perfectly and its fantastic new whiskies are testament to our commitment.”
