A new range of premium soft drinks has been launched by alcoholic drinks specialist Global Brands to meet growing demand from adults looking for better-quality products.
Available in 275ml bottles, Franklin & Sons draws on the heritage of an historic soft drinks manufacturer founded in Rickmansworth in Hertfordshire in 1886.
The recipes use ingredients with provenance such as Yorkshire rhubarb and Sicilian lemons, all of which blend with complementary tastes of fruits, herbs and spices.
The range comprises: Sicilian Lemonade & English Elderflower with crushed juniper; Wild Strawberry & Scottish Raspberry with cracked black pepper; British Dandelion & handpicked Burdock with star anise; and Cloudy Apple & Yorkshire Rhubarb with cinnamon.
The launch is part of Global Brands’ ongoing development of premium and licensed brands and sits alongside alcoholic drinks in its portfolio such as Thornton’s Chocolate Liqueur and Hooper’s Alcoholic Brews.
Marketing director Simon Green said: “Adult soft drinks is an underdeveloped category and the Franklin & Sons range will help to unlock opportunities for retailers with the delicious line-up of recipes that stand apart from the usual suspects.
“This is a carefully considered move into soft drinks and a great fit for Global Brands as a forward-looking business where developing and acquiring new brands in premium segments is part of the growth strategy.
“Franklin and Sons is launching now to make the most of the British summer. The recipes offer year-round refreshment but are particularly well suited to pubs and gardens for adults to enjoy a relaxing taste of summer, even if the sun isn’t shining.”
Launch activity will include sampling at a series of summer events and online promotional activity as well as a range of point-of-sale materials and glassware.
The Franklins & Sons range is made with only natural juices and contains no preservatives or artificial sweeteners.
Sicilian Lemonade & English Elderflower with crushed juniper opens with a wash of citrus balanced with a hint of juniper, which subtly and gently fades to the refreshing, floral tones of elderflower.
Wild Strawberry & Scottish Raspberry with cracked black pepper delivers an initial burst of summer fruit, which slowly softens to reveal a subtle hint of pepper, which perfectly complements the sweetness of the berries.
British Dandelion & handpicked Burdock with star anise is inspired by the traditional process of fermenting dandelions and burdock thistle roots. The initial burst of fruitiness blends to a delicately spicy finish with tones of aniseed.
Cloudy Apple & Yorkshire Rhubarb with cinnamon perfectly balances tart rhubarb flavours and subtle cinnamon tones with the sweetness of real apple juice.
