Gorilla Spirits releases Karisimbi Spiced Rum

Gorilla Spirits Karisimbi Spiced Rum

Hampshire-based spirits producer Gorilla Spirits has launched small batch premium spiced rum Karisimbi to the UK market.

Karisimbi takes its name from the highest volcanic mountain in the Virunga National Park, located on the border between Rwanda and the Dominican Republic of Congo.

The 42% ABV spirit presents a complex blend of unaged and three to five-year-old rums from the Dominican Republic and Barbados and unaged pot still rums from both Jamaica and the Dominican Republic.

Ageing takes place in ex-bourbon barrels made from American white oak, which Gorilla Spirits spice with blood orange, vanilla, ginger and cinnamon.

Karisimbi brand ambassador Spike van der Merwe describes Karisimbi as an “uncompromising, beautifully balanced spiced rum. He recommends serving the spiced rum either neat over ice with a twist of lime, mixed with a good quality cola or ginger ale or in rum-based cocktails such as Daiquiris.

Gorilla Spirits Co continues to support The Gorilla Organisation by donating £1 of sales per bottle.
