A quarter-pounder hot dog made from prime beef has been added to the Mom’s Fabulous Hot Dogs range.
Mom’s Beefy Dog (pictured) is a skinless, quarter pounder gourmet hot dog made from 86% prime beef, with a firm, extra-smooth texture and rich and juicy meaty flavour. Its flavours are further boosted with a hint of smoke, gained from gently smoking over beechwood.
In the US, hot dogs have traditionally been made with beef or a mixture of 60% beef and 40% pork while the UK has traditionally favoured pork. Mom’s Beefy Dog has been two years in development, ensuring an authentic recipe profile, in line with the expanding trend for US-style foods.
Mom’s Beefy Dog contains no artificial flavours or colours. It is available in packs of 5 x 112g and has a shelf life of six months chilled.
It is in line with a trends report from business advisory firm BDO which predicted: “In 2015 we expect new concepts and roll-outs in the smoke and barbecue world to have a great year. Brands like Bodeans, Red’s True Barbecue, Porky’s and Jackson & Rye will continue to grow, building on strong and smoky US flavours.”
According to the Horizons Menurama report last summer, American traditional British dishes were pushed out of the top 10 dining out menu main courses, with established favourites such as sausage and mash making way for four new entrants since 2010: hot dogs, pork ribs, grilled chicken and rib eye steaks.
The Beefy Dog joins Mom’s portfolio of premium-quality hot dogs, including Mom’s Fabulous Frankfurter, Mom’s Bad Boy – a monster of a hot dog made with spiced, coarse-cut pork – and Mom’s Chilli Cheese combining prime pork with chopped chillies and Gouda cheese.
