Guernsey’s new cocktail school

A local businessman has opened a bartender training school in Guernsey, which offers courses to help people develop a career in cocktail bartending.

Shake Mix Muddle was set up by Patrick Crowley who spotted a gap in the market for a permanent learning facility. Accredited by the United Kingdom Bartenders’ Guild (UKBG), courses teach students drink-making techniques, how to make classic cocktails and the skills needed for competition bartending.

With two fully operational bars, a multi-media classroom and a kitchen for ingredient preparation and learning, the venue has everything students need to learn.

“We strive to give a fun, educational and practical experience, but the main aim is wanting to see our students find employment and go on to have a thrilling and rewarding career in hospitality,” Patrick said: “This is an amazing time for cocktails, and bars all over the world are constantly searching for hard-working, trained staff.”

Shake Mix Muddle has also teamed up with several high-profile alcohol brands including Absolut, Havana and Chivas – as well as local Channel Islands airline Aurigny – to help bring students from around the globe to the island of Guernsey.
