The campaign, Escape to the Grape, calls on them to upload a photo or video of their favourite escape along with details of a G’Vine and tonic that is inspired by it.
Running globally, there will be six overall winners who will receive a once-in-a-lifetime trip to the home of G’Vine in Cognac in France.
Produced by EWG Spirits & Wine in Charente in Cognac, G’Vine is a small-batch gin made from grape-based spirit with fresh whole-fruit botanicals softened by the infusion of vine flower.
To enter Escape to the Grape, bartenders need to log onto www.escapetothegrape.com on a smartphone, tablet, or computer and register.
Their variation on a G’Vine and tonic can be in the recipe, in the garnish, in the theatre or presentation – anything that communicates the escape that inspired it. Entrants are free to use any definition of the word “tonic” they choose.
Extra points can be earned via customer voting. Entrants will receive a unique website address when they register, which will lead directly to the voting screen. This URL can be forwarded to friends, fans and regulars to encourage them to try their drink and vote. Photos and tags of the entered cocktails will also earn extra points.
The winner will be selected on May 16, with one each from the UK, the rest of Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Australia. The judges will include cocktail and drinks experts Philip Duff, Gary Regan, Andy Gaunt, Jamie Walker, Fabien Callais and Jamie Jones.
